Q: WHY ARE THE CREMATED REMAINS BUBBLY OR HAVE AN ORGAINC COLOR TO IT, LIKE BROWN, GREEN or ORANGE?

A: Cremated remains are an organic matter and there are two ways the cremation process happens through flame or alkaline hydrolysis (water cremation). When hot glass touches the cremated remains they will turn to a white color from the heat of the hot glass, but some organic matter doesn’t always change leaving some organic coloring. The bubbles happen because the cremated remains off-gases or air can get trapped when making a piece, which is not uncommon.

Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING WITH HOT GLASS AND CREMATED REMAINS?

A: Glass House has been making memorial glass since 2015. The owner of Glass House has trained in Glass since 2011 learning from various artist nationally and internationally.

Pet (Dog & Cat) Memorials

What should I do with my pet’s ashes

I’ve heard from many friends and clients who ask me if there is something they can do with their pets ashes.  For many of us, our pets are a part of the family.  Some of my friends refer to their pets as their children.

It is important that we grieve and honor our pets for the part they played in our lives. So, what are some of the things you could do with your pet’s ashes?

·        put your pet’s ashes into a glass keepsake

·        plant a tree with them

·        spread them somewhere special

·        include your pet’s ashes into the ink of a tattoo

·        make a diamond (this is an expensive option)

·        save your pets ashes in an urn

·        add them in fireworks and send them off with” flare”!

·        bury your pets ashes

·        build a reef out of the ashes

·        send them to the moon (expensive)

·        turn them into a turn on a vinyl record

·        put the ashes in a stuffed animal

·        have a unique piece of glass jewelry made with your pets ashes

·        include the ashes into jewelry

Is it weird to keep a pets’ ashes?

Keeping your pets’ ashes is not weird, it is the same as keeping a family members’ cremated ashes.

Most of us look at our pets as part of the family.  Pets can live with us for a decade or more. We cuddle them and love them and they are always there us.

For some who can’t have children or choose not to have kids can have a furry companion.  A pet takes place of a child for us. Cherishing your pet and their life is beautiful.

Can I put my pet ashes into a glass keepsake

There are a couple of methods you can choose to keep your pets ashes as a keepsake. One is a vessel that you add the ashes to the second is where a glass blower will add the ashes to hot glass and create a unique glass piece with your pet’s ashes included.

Can I put my dog’s ashes in a necklace

A dog’s ashes can certainly be included in a necklace.  You can add the ashes to a vessel and necklace that was previously manufactured, or you can have a unique glass necklace created with your dog’s ashes included.

Putting your dog’s cremated ashes into a necklace is a nice way to honor your dog and keep them close to your heart. Again, there are many different options depending upon the artist you choose.  Here is an example of a glass pendant necklace that was created with a dog’s ashes.

Where to buy pet memorial glass

You can purchase unique pet memorial glass from Glass House Xperience, where the piece is made with the ashes of your pet.  You can also visit a local artisan to create a piece with your pets ashes.  Another option would be to purchase a pet urn or memorial pendant urn for your pets ashes.

We have several options for memorial pet pieces made by combining your pets ashes with glass.  You can find memorial pet necklaces here, or memorial pet pieces here.

A great source of options for pet memorial glass is our Etsy store

You can choose the colors you want incorporated and of course the keepsake you want. You only need to provide us with less than a teaspoon of your pet’s ashes. I have seen other artist that do similar work and everyone has a different style as individual artist, so you really cannot go wrong.

How do I know that they are using my pets ashes?

You can be confident that your pet’s ashes are used in the piece you receive because at Glass House Xperience works on one memorial glass order at a time, your colors are individual to your order and each memorial piece is tracked from the beginning of the process to the end.

I can confidently say that the ashes you provide us are used in the piece that you receive back from us.

I started making these keepsakes for my family members when my grandmother passed away, I see and understand the meaning behind them and know it helps with the grieving process. I take great pride in making these for my customers.

I understand the trust that my customers have in me and I believe that I’m making a meaningful impact on my client’s lives. I’m creating a beautiful keepsake for them to cherish forever.
